Asher Heimermann, the 17 year-old kid running for Sheboygan Mayor pledges on his Facebook page to reduce his salary to $40,000 if he is elected mayor and make it a full-time position.
The Sheboygan Common Council previously voted to make the mayor’s job part-time and hired a city administrator to take on the financial duties, leaving the mayor with little to do.
The mayor position currently pays about $70,000 according to Asher, but would be reduced accordingly upon the next election of the Mayor of Sheboygan because of the reduced duties.
Here’s the problem with Asher’s pledge to the people of Sheboygan about reducing his salary to $40,000 a year. He can live on that amount with no problem since he lives at home with parent(s), he is still in high school and he has absolutely no ideal how much it cost to live or even raise a family.
Is Asher in his right mind? Or is he telling the people what he thinks they want to hear?
Number one, Asher is not in his right mind. He has proved this by running for mayor as a child who can’t even vote or enter a establishment that serves alcohol.
Number two, Asher knows how to play people. He has proven this many times. He voluntarily helped Mayor Bob Ryan buy a domain name for Ryan’s campaign, after telling Ryan he thought it was a no-no to do on a city computer. When the timing was right, Asher threw out the computer use while trying to help oust Mayor Ryan from office over unrelated happenings.
The point is, that Asher acted like a spoiled brat and got national attention that he so thrives on.
Ask Asher how many times he has called the Sheboygan Police Department regarding petty things. Ask him if he felt our tax dollars were well spent chasing around after his pettiness.
Don’t forget, Asher wasn’t spending his tax dollars on these police calls because Asher isn’t a taxpayer or property owner in Sheboygan.

Asher Soliciting Campaign Funds
My concern with a 17 year-old soliciting campaign funds so he can run and campaign for Mayor of Sheboygan is this;
People are donating money for Asher through his website. This is the same kid that was soliciting money from people through his website, for his college fund.
Not only that, what will happen to all of the money people have donated if the recall is a flop? Will Asher refund the money or will he have already spent it?
There is a rumor that more people signed the recall papers numerous times and some with fictitious names. What if people signed the recall papers and they don’t even live in the city? The recall wasn’t run like any other. The volunteers didn’t go door-to-door, but stood by the Farmer’s Market, street corners and the residential waste site.
What verification did the volunteers require before people could sign the recall paper?
These are valid concerns that people should be thinking about and asking before donating to a campaign of someone that doesn’t even know if there will even be a recall election.

Asher, the Kid
Asher has a hard time making up his mind about what he wants to do with his life. What makes him think he could run a city? One of his own admissions says, “Should I drop my plans to go to college for marketing & business and go for criminal justice? Thinking about joining the Milwaukee Police Department.”
I can see it already, Asher campaigning; someone asks him what he plans to do with his life. He asks the person what he thinks he should do.
Asher encouraged kids to leave the classroom for a demonstration in downtown Sheboygan this past year against the public sector losing their collective bargaining rights. Although, I agree, that this is wrong, what I feel is worst, is some kid with a political agenda encouraging kids to walk out of class, which some did.
Here was Ashers invitation:
“To anyone who is unaware, there is a National High School walkout this Friday March 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm, please join the event page and spread the word to anyone and everyone you know.”
“School walkout tomorrow in the Sheboygan Area School District. Leave class at 9 AM and meet in the parking lot to show you’re against Governor Scott Walker’s new Anti-Teacher bill. Spread the word.”
In March, Asher wanted to run for governor of Wisconsin. Also in March, Asher said, “I’ve got some tough decisions about my future to think about today.”
Is this the person you want for Mayor of Sheboygan?

Asher for Sheboygan Mayor
I have seen some pretty desperate measures taken in the efforts to oust Mayor Bob Ryan from office, but the latest news coming from Sheboygan just tells me that Ryan deserves to stay in office and finish the job.
As of November 7, 2011, MatiChek, who wanted the recall of Ryan to go forward for the integrity of the city, has not taken out papers to run for mayor yet. However, one person has taken out papers and plans to campaign for Mayor of Sheboygan.
Asher Heimermann is a 17 year-old kid who will turn 18 towards the end of November, in time to run for mayor. Hiemermann has said in a press release, that it is time to “move Sheboygan forward.” He goes on to say that he wants to restore the integrity of the mayor’s office. However, there are things he didn’t say in his press release that will work against him besides his age. His behavior on the Sheboygan Press forums and his own Facebook page has created a buzz for months or even years.
Asher was one of the people who filed a complaint against Mayor Ryan when the city found out about Bob’s problems in Elkhart Lake (three-day drinking binge). Asher’s complaint said that he helped Ryan buy, with his own personal credit card, and pay for his domain name for his campaign website on a city computer in November of 2010.
Asher never had a problem with what he did until the drinking binge came to light months later. Asher also took part in something he told the mayor he thought was illegal. Evidently, using the city computer for campaigns is a no-no and Asher believed this to be true, but did it anyway.
Asher went so far as to ask the district attorney to consider criminal charges against Ryan. DeCecco, would not prosecute because of the delay in bringing the accusations to light and because Asher’s admission that he believed that using a city computer for this type of business was illegal and still helped Ryan pay for his domain.
Now, this is the person that wants to be the Mayor of Sheboygan.

Recalling Mayor Bob Ryan
Alderman MatiChek, who was close with Ryan, took out papers for a recall. However, those papers never materialized. Instead, new papers were taken out for the recall by Mary Jo Stoelb days later. The recall signatures needed to be turned in on November 1, 2011.
The group (few as there were) collected 4,723 signatures, but only needed 4,121. The clerk has the papers and must now go through the verification process.
The problem with the signatures may come to light. A forum at the local Sheboygan Press found many people saying that they had signed the petition more than once. Some signed different names. These people didn’t want to recall the mayor, but they wanted to mess with the process.
Mayor Bob Ryan has the right to do his own verification process, which he has asked to do. Between the clerk and Ryan, they may find some unusual signatures that will not qualify for the count.
Whichever way the counting goes, there are candidates taking out papers to run for the Mayor of Sheboygan.

The Recall of Mayor Perez
The failed recall of Mayor Perez came to light in 2006. A group of people calling themselves Citizens for Responsible Government started the recall efforts. The recall was a racial movement to eject a Latino mayor from office, as some saw it.
The recall reason stated that Mayor Perez was failing to uphold his duties as a mayor with professionalism and integrity. The reason for the recall was that Perez was successful in his efforts to move the location of the city's new police headquarters from a local park to a site on the city's west side and he stopped the merging of the city police department, 911 center and the sheriffs department into one at the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department. People felt this was the Mayor shrugging his duties as Mayor and ruining the city.
Meetings were held at Dave’s Who’s Inn in Sheboygan. Some gathered to volunteer to help collect signatures needed to oust the Mayor of Sheboygan. The group needed 6,000 signatures to force a recall, but were only able to collect 4,013, none of which were ever verified because the group never hit the mark.

Sheboygan Mayor Juan Perez
Juan Perez was elected as the Mayor of Sheboygan in 2005. The Mexican-American mayor was the first Latino ever elected in a southeastern city in Wisconsin. However, there were some that just wanted to get rid of Perez at any cost. The group tried to complete a recall of Mayor Perez without succeeding. More about the recall here.
As the next election neared, three candidates threw in their hats for a chance to be the next mayor of Sheboygan. Marty Bohman, Democratic Terry Van Akkeren and Alderman Bob Ryan would run against Perez. It was factual to say that one of these three candidates would beat out the current mayor of Sheboygan.
Bob Ryan won the race for Mayor of Sheboygan after being with the Common Council since 2006, so people knew about him.
Ryan sold his company, Ryan Oil Company in 2008, but kept at least one convenience store in Plymouth. Ryan said this about the situation at City Hall in Sheboygan when he decided to run for mayor, “It’s very divisive under the present mayor.”
Perez promised to build a new firehouse, and he did have it done. He promised to spend money to revitalize and save Sheridan Park, which he did have done, and Perez promised to keep taxes under control, which he did. That didn’t help him win the mayoral race.
